Our Story

Well, hello there!
I'm Dan Ediger.  I'm Jim Hall's partner, whose idea this all was.  Welcome to the UFC.  Well, our UFC anyway.

Our story started a while back when Jim wanted to get some chickens and asked me to help him build a chicken coop.   Most of the design is Jim's and I'm around mainly for muscle and inspiration.  Not to mention my rugged good looks and boyish charm. Well, everybody's got to be good for something, huh?

Anyway, when we finished Jim's coop it occurred to us that this is a pretty good idea and thought that maybe other people would agree.  After all, being as self-sufficient as possible and growing as much of our own food as we can has been part of our lifestyle for years, especially in messed up economic times like these.  The more food we can raise and grow ourselves, the less we have to buy and the more we can share with our neighbors, families and friends.

When we started this we looked at a lot of commercially available chicken coops.  There are some really beautiful, well made structures that anyone would be proud to have in their back yards.  The only problem is that many of them cost from around $2000 and up.  OUCH!  I'm trying to save money here not take out a loan to buy.  A lot of them aren't very functional because they put form before function.  they are oriented toward the cutsie pet chicken lover and that's great, but we have gone in a bit of a different direction.

We want to help people feed their families and be as self sufficient as is practical.  That means giving as much bang for your buck as we can.  Our chicken houses aren't Amish quality furniture, nor do we use expensive, high-tech materials.  What we have created is a nice looking, rugged, strong, functional, and long lasting structure.  We're keeping the prices as low as we can.  We're not trying to get rich off each unit we sell.  We would rather sell 10 units for a few hundred dollars than 5 units for a couple of thousand.

We want you to be able to pay for your chicken house with egg $ savings in about a year.  After that it's gravy and everyone likes gravy.  Especially country gravy.

We're going to be adding new and really cool products to our company as time goes along  We'll keep you up to date,   So, keep in touch.
